Assignment 1: Winter in Montreal's Chinatown (蒙特利尔唐人街)

Established in 1887, Montreal's Chinatown (蒙特利尔唐人街) is home to many of Montreal's East Asian community centers, like Montreal's Chinese Hospital and the Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Center. Tucked away in one block, the area hosts a variety of restaurants, shops, and markets. You can find Montreal's Chinatown between Avenue Viger and René Lévesque Boulevard and Saint Urbain Street and St-Laurent Boulevard.

Waiting to go. A truck speeds by Chinatown's Avenue Viger entrance.

No place to sit. The snow keeps everyone on the move on De la Gauchetière Street, the only street that runs through Chinatown.

Orange is the warmest — and perhaps tastiest — colour. 

People hide away from the cold, eating inside Sai Gwan Restaurant, or as Montreal food blogger, Jason Lee, says, "The pseudo noodle-speakeasy."
